OFITECO has started the review and implantation of alert thresholds in the real-time hydrographic monitoring system in the Duero river basin, as a key protection measure against floods.
OFITECO has been awarded the contract for “Services for review, proposal and implementation of alert thresholds in the integrated SAIH-ROEA network for the Duero River Basin Authority”.
These services include the development of geomorphological studies in the Duero riverbed, the hydrological analysis of the catchment behavior, and a detailed hydraulic study of a series of areas surrounding the gauging points which compose the ROEA-SAIH system. This network, managed the Duero River Basin Authority, integrates:
This network’s control points add up to a total 166 stations, which will be analysed in order to establish the alert thresholds, needed to minimise flood damages. This is included in the measures envisaged in the basin’s Flood Risk Prevention Plan.
OFITECO has a great expertise in fluvial engineering studies, with its own in-house methodologies, procedures and models that apply to this case.
